About Ms. Brazil

Academically: I have always loved learning, and I have always strived to achieve and maintain personal excellence in all that I apply myself to. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from CSU Stanislaus, with a BA in English in 2014, and from the Teacher Education post-graduate program in 2015. I was recognized as the top English major in my class, and am a member of the Phi Kappa Phi national honors society.

Professionally: I completed my student teaching at El Capitan during the 2014-2015 school year in Ms. Wilson’s 10th Grade Pre-AP English classrooms, and this is my second official year teaching solo. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a Supplemental Instructor for an English reading class at Merced College, as well as a tutor in several subject areas - with a concentration in English and Math. These positions provided me with valuable experience guiding and developing the academic performance of students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds, and strengthened my passion for helping others through the learning process.

Personally: I am a mother of four fantastic children; my daughters are 13, 15, and 17, and my son is 8. My partner is an artist, and supports me and our kids in all we do. I do recognize the significant difference between the roles of parent and teacher; however, my experience as a parent - and especially now, as a parent of three teenagers - provides me with firsthand knowledge of child and adolescent development and diversity, and has solidified my belief that teaching at the secondary education level is my calling.

In addition to my family and education, my loves are: reading, writing, art (painting, drawing, sculpting . . .), baking & cooking (I have been a vegetarian since I was 12), animals (at home & in the wild), music (listening, not making it), the ocean & the bay area (I heart SF).

I am ecstatic to continue my teaching career at El Capitan, and I look forward to providing you with quality education and guidance.
